Do you feel like there just aren’t enough social networks out there that facilitate the more sexual side of human behavior? I feel like that all the time. That’s why I’ve been on the hunt for some of the newest and sexiest social media sites out there. Today I’m taking a look at Switter.at. If the name reminds you of the popular website Twitter, there’s a reason for that. Instead of a little blue bird, this site’s animal mascot is a god damn elephant. I mean, that’s pretty alpha, to begin with. Imagine a bird and an elephant going at it toe to toe. The elephant would crush the bird unless the bird flew away like a little coward. Anyway, I think I’m too obsessed with this part of the site, let’s dive into the nitty and gritty.

Switter.at is a social media site that’s designed for sex workers. That means sex workers from all spheres of work can come here and enjoy each other’s company and be as explicit as they like without getting any backlash. Usually, social network sites have a huge bias against nudity. Here, it’s all allowed baby. So, take off as much as you want and enjoy your stay. Of course, you’re free to make a profile for yourself as well even if you aren’t a sex worker. This can be a great place for you to make some connections to the best sex workers around.

Oh, and guess what they did to replace the “tweet” function. Well, they didn’t really replace it, more like renamed it. BUT, they renamed it so that it sounds thirty times cooler. They call them “toots”. How awesome is that? Hey, did you see Marie’s last toot? What a slag. Well, they’re all slags, it’s a sex worker social network after all hah. It’s not really name calling, it’s just a facticity of the job at hand. There’s not much you can do about that part, unfortunately. But hey, at least the cash is good!

Anyway, Switter.at looks really good. They have that clean modern app looks. They made it so that all of the functions and buttons behave very much like they would in a contemporary social network website. In all honesty, this is one of the rare sites in this category that actually looks this decent. It could pass as a legitimate first-grade site. The graphics are awesome and minimalistic, and the color scheme is simple but effective. I love everything when it comes to the look of this website.

Switter.at also has a big and lively community. With well over 150 thousand users that have already made millions of toots, there’s no denying that this place is alive and well. The user base keeps growing by the day and there’s no sign that it will stop any time soon. I’m not sure if bots are taken into account when they made those numbers, but I guess that it can’t be as bad as some other sites. However, bots have been known to be a problem in the more intimate social networks. I guess only time will tell.

Right off the bat, you don’t even have to make an account. You can jump straight into the most popular toots on the website and see exactly why so many people are joining this website. It won’t take more than five minutes before you’re all up on that registration screen, making your own account. I swear, some of the girls on here and the things they post? Straight up heat. They aren’t afraid to step out of their comfort zone and show the world what they’re made of and I can respect that. Still completely slutty and lacks any sort of decency, but I respect it from a courage standpoint. It takes balls to make some of these twee- I mean uh… Toots.

They don’t have their own mobile app and they don’t seem interested in making one. I think that Switter.at would make a lot of new members if they just released some sort of app instead of forcing people to use the web version. I mean, the web version works fine, but when you’re a website that’s doing this well, you should start thinking about releasing the app as well. I mean when you look at the design of the site, it just screams “app”.

All in all, this is a project that has been made in response to FOSTA/SESTA which has caused sex workers to take a big hit on some popular sites such as Reddit and Craigslist. This is a perfect place for all sex workers to connect with other people and feel like they’re doing it in a safe environment. A noble cause, and I can stand behind it every step of the way.
