Where does the 18 in Hentai 18 come from? I know it ain’t the number of X-rated Asian comics in the archive, because there are a hell of a lot more than eighteen. Perhaps it’s a reference to the minimum age you need to be in a lot of places to gawk at naked girls, or it could even refer to the ages of the sexy manga chicks depicted. “All characters on this site are 18+” reads the little disclaimer text at the bottom of the screen, though they add, “even if they don’t look like it, they are all 18+.” Then again, maybe this is just the 18th version of the site, making a comeback after 17 previous attempts.

Whatever the case and whatever that number actually stands for, I bet you’ve already guessed what Hentai18.net is all about. That’s right, ladies and germs, it’s a sprawling collection of free adult manga, manhwa and doujinshi. The site’s only been online for about half a year, but they’re already getting a couple million visitors every month. Heavy traffic ain’t always an indicator there’s something worth lubing up for, but it sure is a good sign. Naturally, I had to take a look for myself.

Manga vs Manhwa vs Doujinshi

To the casual observer, manhwa, doujins and manga all look pretty much the same. Technically speaking, though, manhwa and manga come from opposite ends of the Sea of Japan; manhwa is Korean, while manga is Japanese. Doujinshi can refer to any self-produced manga, though around here, it's typically used to describe homemade X-rated comics.

The artwork is similar among all three of Hentai18’s styles, but those with a keen eye or just a hard dick will start to pick up the differences right away. I feel like the Korean storylines tend to be more realistic, with fewer monster cocks and furry bukkake scenes than their Japanese counterparts. Meanwhile, doujins are all over the fucking place and often contain the kinkiest work of all. Most of the X-rated manga parodies you’ll find here and elsewhere are considered doujinshi, since they ain’t officially released in stores anywhere.

Some of these are illustrated in more of a western comic style than others, though the hentai influence shines strongly through most of them.

I didn’t find a full list of parodies or even a Tags index like you find on a lot of hentai sites, but Hentai 18 does have a little dropdown menu of Genres available in the header. It feels incomplete, honestly, but does offer quick links to a lot of their most popular niches, kinks and parodies, like Kim Possible Porn, Naruto Hentai, Soft Yuri, Ecchi and Shounen. I’m a little bummed there isn’t a full list, even though it’d probably be a multi-page menu filled with thousands of microgenres. Those can be a lot of fun to find new fetishes on.

Digging Deep into Hentai 18

A lot of the hentai on the site consists of ongoing series. The goddess manhwa I mentioned is descriptively titled Is There No Goddess In My College? Today’s update was actually chapter 72 of the storyline, so you’ve got some catching up to do if you just got here. The multi-chapter presentation here means the archive is actually much, much bigger than it appears from the outside.

Even without accounting for the multiple chapters, Hentai18.net has a fucking massive library of Asian porn comics. There are around 4000 pieces of full-length hentai on the site as of this writing. To break it down a little bit more, there are nearly 400 manhwas, 1200 mangas and almost 2400 doujins, all with adult themes so you’ve got something to shake your dick at on the Uber ride home.

Personally, I often prefer something a little more self-contained than an ongoing series, especially if I’m just trying to get a quick fap in before I get kicked out of Starbucks again. If you’ve got the same urge, just look for the ONESHOT label beneath the hentai tites. Ahri is a one-off, so the Read Now link directed me to the full story, all laid out on one long-scrolling page.

The dialog’s a little wonky with a fair number of misspellings, so I suspect it was translated from Japanese. It’s easy enough to follow what’s happening, though. I had my adblocker running, as always, and I didn’t see any spam at all during my visit, so there’s really nothing to slow you down as you feast your eyes on these sexy anime chicks.
