Who’s up for a Chat Spin? I had a feeling I’d be down to try my luck as soon as I heard the name, though I did have some questions about it. The format has come a long way since the early days of Chatroulette, and I was curious to see how these guys made it their own. They’ve been around since 2015 and get close to a million visits a month, which are both promising signs, but I had boobies on the brain as I pulled up the site and prepared to write my review. With any luck, I’d be seeing some very soon.

Take a Spin and Have a Chat

So, what are the gimmicks they’re claiming to set them apart from the competition? I’d say the presentation is one, as the whole joint feels a hell of a lot fancier than Omegle or any of its clones. Most of the listed perks are pretty ordinary for the format, though, like the instant and private chats. They offer cam chat filters, which is cool and potentially useful for anonymity, but not exactly the explicit naughtiness I was hoping for.

I was most interested in the ChatSpin country and gender filters. No shit, I smiled as soon as I saw the gender filter, knowing I didn’t have to worry about random dingdongs when all I want is ho hos. Likewise, the country filter would ensure the women I chatted with knew what I was saying. These features are pretty basic, but they’re exactly the features you’d miss if they were gone.

Another basic but vital feature is just the size of the userbase. Chat apps are basically useless if there’s nobody to talk to or ask for a penile critique, but ChatSpin.com has thousands of users online at any moment. It ain’t the most hopping joint I’ve ever visited, but there are more than enough users that you shouldn’t connect to the same rando twice. When I visited the site on a Tuesday evening, there were around 2400 people taking a Chat Spin.

Signing Up and Getting into It

Getting started was quick, easy and free. I just told them I was a dude and hit the Start Chatting button, which launched me right into it immediately. Front-page forms like this usually lead to a more elaborate signup page, but you can start Chat Spinning for free without even signing up. Make sure to hit the Allow button so you can use your camera and mic.

I love the immediacy of the platform, but all of my first matches were men. I flipped through a few of them before a photo of a pretty Asian chick appeared on the screen. “Looking for women?” the caption asked. “Try gender filters to connect with more women.” Well, don’t mind if I do! I clicked the Connect with Women button, at which point ChatSpin asked me to sign up for a real account.

You can register with an email address or phone number, but I kept it simple and instant by using my Google account. They offered me a 30% deal on the VIP features right away, but I still wanted to poke around a bit first. I went back and tried the Connect with Women button again, only to be cockblocked: the filters are for paying members only.

Premium memberships to ChatSpin.com will run you twenty bones a month or seven bucks a week. Those filters are the most important thing you’re paying for in my own humble opinion, but you can also hide your location, gain followers, and get reconnected if your conversation gets cutoff. VIP members also get an ad-free experience, though with my adblocker running, I didn’t see any spam in the free area, either.

New Chat Spin users also get some free tokens, even if they don’t go premium. I didn’t get mine immediately after signup and had no idea they were coming, but after poking around for a while, a message popped up saying I had 25 free tokens. They offer a few different ways to earn more tokens, though I’m not sure how useful they are to free users. You’re supposed to be able to use them to access VIP features like the gender filter, but I couldn’t figure out how to spend them. A short time later, I got another random deposit of freebies, but still couldn’t do anything even with 50 in my wallet.

Show Me to the Women, Please

Fuck it, I thought, and pulled the trigger on the weekly plan just to try it out. Worst case scenario, I’m out a few bucks. Best case scenario, I add another layer of protein-packed crust to my favorite old gym sock. Once I was a VIP, I started playing with those VIP features. Namely, I dialed in my preference for a female chat partner.

While I wish there were more women to ChatSpin with, and I wish it was easier to do it for free, I have to say I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the women I ended up connecting with. Roughly speaking, I’d say the female demographics here are just a little older than your average OnlyFans model, with a lot of women who look to be in their late 20s or early 30s, as well as some straight-up cougars. I ended up chatting with a sexy gal from Arizona who didn’t want me to mention her name, but who said she’d come read my review. It was nice talking to you, cutie!

ChatSpin.com is a well-designed platform that feels a lot classier and professional than earlier examples of the random video chat genre. I do wonder if the polished presentation works against them here, because it almost feels too clean to get dirty. The basic service is more intimate than your average webcam sex site, but it doesn’t have the same inherent sexiness to it. You’ll probably have to work harder to see some exposed tits or a naked beaver here, but it works wonders if you just want a casual conversation with a pretty girl.
